Thanks to everybody who has come to participate with the Men's Bible Study on Wednesday nights. It has truly been a thought provoking time of study and discussion, but even more importantly we are connecting with each other, praying for the needs of our church and leaving each week with something encouraging. Here are a few notes to recap the last two studies:
Jim Lankford - Build Community
Building is something found all through scripture from Creation, the Ark, the Temple, the Nation of Israel and then as we move into the New Testament Jesus teaches about building God's Kingdom. The scripture tells us that the Kingdom of Heaven is within us. Each of us, connected together and reaching out as the hands and feet of Christ duplicate and build God's Kingdom through community.
Eric Ness - Defending our Gates
The Gates of the city are set for protection at the weakest points in the wall where people pass through to enter and exit. Jesus said, I am the Gate. Anyone who goes through me will be cared for—will freely go in and out, and find pasture. Jesus also said to Peter (speaking of himself), "On this Rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
